We are doing this in school. We haven't gone over it much yet, but
I think we are doing the original version, because the tune is different to this one.

@Curriedlegs - you're quite right. I worked with the composer one of his shows and he told me that the copyright problem only exists in America. Here in the UK we still perform the 'original' version. Most of the vids of this wonderful show are from the States and thus have this rather uninteresting tune. There is one vid of the English version - search for 'University of Greenwich Choir Production The Riviera'. The performance is pretty rough but Sandy's fabulous tune comes through triumphant!

Great version - but "Orlandos" is right in saying it's not how the song was originally done. The original version of the song had a different, much snappier tune. Unfortunately the original was very similar to an existing song called "The Varsity Rag" and the copyright holders of "Varsity Rag" brought a court action against the composers of The Boyfriend, claiming plagiarism; so modern versions of the show - like this video - use a re-written version of "The Riviera" with a very different tune.

This play was so awesome to do! The dance break for this song was really intense but still was so much fun!

it seems like the choreography is good and stuff,but seeming as though thats not how it was origionally supposed to be done it was just not good.If your going to change the song and choreography then I think you MUST do as good or a better job.This was ok..but my school is actually doing this show right now...its a real good play.

Yes, it is VERY Long. We called it "The Killer!" . . . but one of the very most fun numbers I can remember doing!!!
