She has no reason to fake being deaf - even without that disability she is one of the greatest percussionist out there, genuinely talented performer and composer, so why bother faking something when it doesn't advance her any more? She works with deaf children in schools and helps others while bringing music. I've met her and her husband, seen her perform live. She began going deaf at age 8. It's about 90% hearing loss, which is why she needs the vibrations to really know what she's playing.

she's not a con look it up on wikipedia or something

she can feel music through different parts of her body; thats why she always takes off her shoes when she is playing
