@kroqgar78 I checked there, but I eventually figured it out. I used the alternate iso installer. :D Apparently my 2 year old laptop can't handle the graphical installer, but the text-only one worked great! Thank you, though. :)

I am new to Ubuntu, running it inside of VMware, when ever I try to install an application, it tells me that it isn't authenticated, what do I need to do to be able to install applications?

@Gdayguy36 I've never used Ubuntu through VMware, but you may try installing application from a terminal if there is any permission problem (which appears to be). Try installing applications using the command -
sudo apt-get install [app_name]
Or you can go to User Management section (Top right - > User Accounts) and change the permission settings as you want.
