I also have an 08 KLR... back tire looks about the same at 3400 miles.... bought a set of Kenda 761's. Have not installed yet...

I have not rode the new KLR, but I can say I have owned a 2002, and currently a 1987, and they both ride/drive identical.

Thats weird because I'm at 5600 miles on the originals and they still have at least 500 miles of tread left. I do a lot of interstate too, but I've noticed most everyone elses tires wear faster than mine. I don't exactly ride conservatively either.

I was wondering what that noise was (the rattler). I wouldn't have been able to sleep. I like your quick reviews on the KLR. I'm looking at getting one. It will be my first bike. I'm not sure if I should go with the 07 or the 08. Anyway take care and keep it going.

Austin Texas... so I'd assume rattle snake is correct. Glad I didn't see it... but it does sound damn close huh?
