Zhao Yun's Maximization (REMASTERED)

Recommended Weapon:
Attack / Musou / Fill / Speed / Charge

Recommended Items:
Tiger Amulet / Green Scroll / True Way of Musou / Way of Musou / Dragon Arms

All right, this is Zhao Yun's maximization remastered. The Wind Scroll was taken out for the Way of Musou.

His setup before, with the Wind Scroll instead of the Way of Musou, and the Dragon Arms, gave him a weak offense with neither a Fire Musou, nor a high chance to freeze officers. Zhao Yun's Musou damage is somewhat weak by default relative to other juggling Musous. He needs roughly a full set of normal attacks including evolution attacks to precede a full True Musou with this Musou bar length to KO a generic officer. With these statistics, it seems that the combination of Way of Musou and Wind Scroll would be a good idea (with Tiger Amulet, Green Scroll, and True Way of Musou being must-have items), as the Wind Scroll would allow Zhao Yun to abuse his first normal attacks safely because of long enough reach and fast enough recovery time. However, this method of Musou filling obviously isn't perfectly consistent. Also, resorting to C4 to fill Musou has obvious delays due to Musous wasted for defense since it's recovery time isn't so impressive.

The next step was to give Zhao Yun the Dragon Arms, in place of the Way of Musou. This setup gives him a lot more flexibility and zero potential for wasting Musous when mastered. On top of this, the C1 invincibility can be abused because now he can cancel the recovery time with a Jump Attack (JA). This meant ultimate offensive consistency. But of course the tradeoff was a loss in offensive damage, because Zhao Yun's moveset is naturally hard to use to activate elements and connect with his Musou at the same time. In the case of Ice, you would have a bit more freedom to use C4 until Ice succeeds, but this is still a relatively slow offense, when compared to other more impressive freezers like Zhang Fei, Ling Tong, Zuo Ci, or even Ma Chao. Give him the Fire Orb, and the two most compatible charge attacks for leading conveniently into a Musou can't be used often at all because of lack of range. It is possible to execute C4 to set fire and then execute Musou, but this needs to be timed perfectly, and there is very little room for error. The earliest C4 execute has Zhao Yun's back facing the opponent. But at this angle, connecting with Musou isn't possible. It turns out that positioning the officer slightly to Zhao Yun's left side places the execution right on the margin, so officers don't block it, and his Musou can be executed just in time to connect. However, this angle isn't always possible against officers in large crowds. And besides.....it takes more than a C4 + Fire Musou to defeat a generic.

The new approach now with this remastered configuration, is the omission of the Wind Scroll. I chose Han Shui not only because Zhao Yun's in this battle, but because this battle has buffed up officers in pretty continuous and large crowds, which makes it perfect for showing C4 consistency in defense. Please note that all the times I got hit in the video were due to gameplay errors and not moveset errors cause by the downgrade in reach.

What Zhao Yun can do now far better. The large crowd sizes made it hard to show his maximized offense all the time, but with this config, he still retains the same consistent method of Musou filling enabled by the Dragon Arms. And with the Way of Musou equipped now, there are far more opportunities for Zhao Yun to do that combo of [8 normal attacks + True Musou] against generics for a swift single combo KO. Recall that after hitting a crowd onto the ground the officer will always get up first. This is how the Dragon Arms allows Zhao Yun to be able to fill Musou and create an opening for his optimization combo, at the same time.
Lastly, he'll still remain equipped with the Ice Orb to get the best of both worlds of fire and ice.

  • no.

  • are u gonna show vids for dw6 empires when it comes out? or is that not ur kinda thing?

  • I heard DW6 sux

  • Wow... *points to Yue Jin... or Sun Li... that one at 3:00 * That is not a great offense. I thought he'd be faster.

  • if you pay attention to the first officer kill, which is a typical generic officer, Zhao Yun's offense should be consistently that fast. Except....he should have died right after the musou ending, because I didn't do a full set of evolution normal attacks

how about sw3? well you know never mind because some of the weapons you can't upgrade that well and have to earn alot for it

  • @DW5chaosmodeguide how did you get legend , destiny and xtreme mode?

  • @crimsonarceus I already said to DW5CMG that what I mean is that he has an outstanding defense. Basically this shows that I type the words wrong 5 months ago. You are DISTORTING my words. It really irritates me.

  • @crimsonarceus If you want to make an accusation, you have understand the game in depth.

    A side question

Do you know that Lu Meng has stronger musou than Zhang Liao?

  • @crimsonarceus I have typing mistake there. Zhao Yun has very good defense with his invincible C1, but his offense is very weak because of his weak musou.

  • New offense for Gan Ning

When you hit the officer, aim the target with his handle. When you hit the second strike, turn slightly clockwise, then the third strike will succeed. Then turn counterclockwise to prepare the second runthrough. Do the same thing again. When you hit the second strike, turn slightly clockwise, then the third strike will succeed. Then 6 hits total in a 600-long musou will kill playable officers in a musou.

  • @DW5chaosmodeguide Yeah. Well he doesn't suck, but he is mediocre. Sorry I mean that he has outstanding defense.

  • @davidchen128

I still have yet to determine if this setup is the best for him.

I want to go back to Wind Scroll and no Way of Musou.

Zhao Yun sucks in this game.....unlike how his image is portrayed.....especially by KOEI!!
