Shaken & Stirred - James Bond 007 Parody/Spoof - AMC Gremlin

This is a James Bond parody movie that was filmed by myself and some high school (Pebblebrook HS in Mableton, GA) friends of mine in 1984 on a Super-8mm Movie Camera. Using my transfer service, the film was transferred to video in 2007, and edited on Adobe Premiere Pro. The film was originally silent, so all audio (sound fx, dialog & music) in the final production was added in the editing.

One sound effect that you may recognize on this movie is the "Wilhelm Scream." This is a stock sound effect first used in 1951 for the film "Distant Drums." Actor-singer Sheb Wooley is considered to be the most likely voice actor for the scream, having appeared on a memo as a voice extra for the film. The Wilhelm Scream has been featured in many films and television programs since; most notably, films involving the cinematic genius of George Lucas (Star Wars, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Indiana Jones & the Temple of Doom, etc.).

In this film, the Wilhelm Scream can be heard at 3:57 and 5:16.

THE AGENT in the film is played by me, and the car he drives was the 1972 AMC Gremlin that I owned at the time. It had a 307 Chevrolet engine installed. Notice the 96 Rock tag on the front of the car. This is 96.1 FM Atlanta, which at the time played such classic rock as Pink Floyd, Van Halen, Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones, Rush, Jethro Tull, Ted Nugent, Journey, etc. In early 2007, this station switched formats and became "Project 96.1."

Maurice Binder was the title designer for the Bond films, as well as the creator of the infamous gunbarrel sequence. The end credits of this film are done Binder-style (rather than as they are traditionally done, in the opening credits of the Bond films). I had fun using silhouettes of the 1972 AMC Gremlin in this sequence (think of how asinine it would be for a goverment agent to be driving a Gremlin!).

The end title song is "If There Was a Man" by The Pretenders. It was also used in "The Living Daylights (1987)."

By the way, the LP I am perusing starting at 5:25 is "Double Vision" by the group Foreigner.

Keep in mind that this film was never really finished. I guess I ran out of time, since I was getting ready to graduate and go to college!

After watching this, I'm sure you'll say that I am no Steven Spielberg (Close Encounters of the Third Kind, E.T., Schindler's List, etc.). Also, I certainly am no Sean Connery, George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan, or Daniel Craig. However, you'll have to admit that my film is much better than "Plan 9 from Outer Space" (by Ed Wood)!

Unfortunately no. The Gremmie was my first car. I owned it from 1983-1984. The Camaro belongs to my co-star's sister.
