UCF Researchers Create Lettuce That Makes Insulin

In Dr. Daniell's method, the lettuce plant cells help the insulin reach the intestine. Once the plant cells get there, bacteria slowly break down the cell walls and gradually release insulin into the bloodstream. This creates an immune response in the body and teaches it to release its own insulin.
Dr. Daniell says because this is a plant-based therapy, it would only cost pennies to produce.

    I'm trying to find out what do you mean by saying this?

    Are you saying that if the insulin gene is grown in the plant then most likely the body will reject insulin from the bottle or what?

  • This is bullshit...just another way for GMO's to patent and profit. You don't need to genetically modify lettuce to get the same insulin reaction. Once the GMO genie is let out of the bottle, she cannot be put back in.
