Diana

This is a requst from my Uncle Tim of my little cousin Diana.

My uncle Tim and Aunt Sandy Gagliardo have four daughters, three of which are healthy, and their youngest, 10 year old Diana, is not. At the age of 8, Diana was diagnosed with a very rare, incurable disease called Leighs disease. This disease causes the degeneration of a persons central nervous system, which includes the spinal cord, brain and optic nerve. It is a progressive disease which eventually leads to loss of motor skills, neurological deterioration, lack of muscle tone, generalized weakness and episodes of lactic acidosis which may lead to kidney and respiratory impairments.

Leighs disease is incurable.

Dianas present condition is such that she is regressing. She needs help feeding herself and she relies on a wheel chair to get around. Even with all of this happening to her, you would never know it if you saw her because she is still so happy.

As you would expect, the financial and emotional strain on the family is enormous. Sandy had to leave her job to provide full attention to Diana, so they have a loss of one income. Tim has health insurance coverage, but the medications that Diana requires are very expensive and co-payments for her various treatments are tremendous.

It is really nice. I love it but don't you think the black shadow under the hair seem a little too hard?

Maybe it's just my impression. Anyway great work!

@Schmunzelfee Yeah I agree it might be a little too dark. These aren't polished drawings though... I do them in one sitting. If I walked away and then spent more time on them, I would probably change a lot of things. But you're right, it's something for me to work on :)
