Some in the US are proposing to leave only a force of JSOC (Special forces) of 40,000 behind in Afghanistan. Right now they have a footprint of 140,000 which would be very expensive to supply through the aerial route from Central Asian neighbors of Afghanistan, ie; cut Pakistan out of the loop.
