The songs from the live action Horrible Histories are fabulous and educational but often Euro/Anglocentric. Still, great songs and great show, desperately hope that my future kids love it because I do!

Paul Sabourin: just an FYI (in case you have more kids) your kid was most likely colicky because they were formula fed.

We love They Might Be Giants. They have some really great kids music that's actually not annoying. We also listen to a lot of songs from movies for the kids. I love the songs from The Five Pennies and sang them as lullabies. In the car I usually have classical music on. If I listen to anything other than that or my daughter's music, she tells me to change it. lol

My eldest is bewitched by The Cult's "Sweet Soul Sister" since he was tiny, if he was crying it would just calm him down and send him to sleep instantly. Now he is 2 and he just goes calm and spaces out as soon as it starts.

Shawn Colvin make babies and some nerds stop crying? Why her voice would cause a college age nerd to stop crying is mysterious and deserves further study but her effect on babies is easy to understand...it's the sheer beauty and openess of her voice that stops them in their tracks..."Angels?" they think...Mommy, I hear an Angel singing...that's my theory..."I Don't Know Why" is an actual lullybye she wrote to/for herself for self soothing...but she makes me weep and nothing makes me stop...sad!
