Sam and Olivia; Sam and Amanda, Christmas 1989

Sam tells Olivia she doesn't have to hang out with him. Olivia replies that he's not the only one who needed company and asks if she's making him uncomfortable. He tells her she's not, but he really thinks he should be alone. Olivia says she'll leave as soon as she finishes her hot chocolate. Sam tells Olivia he's not trying to kick her out. Then there's a knock at the door. It's Amanda, who tells Sam she's sorry, but she couldn't stay away. It's Christmas Eve, and she really needs to talk to him. Amanda's not happy to see Olivia at the loft and asks what she's doing there. Olivia says she just came over to give Sam a Christmas present, and she was just about to leave, so she does. After Olivia's gone, Amanda remarks that Olivia certainly doesn't waste any time, does she? Sam asks Amanda what she wants. Amanda wants to know if Sam is coming over to the house for Christmas. Sam says he hasn't decided yet. Amanda tells Sam that Alli has been asking for him, and she doesn't want Rachel to be upset when Rachel gets home from the hospital. Sam tells Amanda that he'll see Alli no matter what. Amanda asks Sam what he'd like her to say. Sam doesn't know; they've talked about Olivia, appearances, and Alli. He guesses he'd like to know what Amanda wants. Amanda tells Sam she wants him back. She's loved him since the first day she saw him, and she loves him now. Nothing seems right without him, even in the house where she grew up. It's so empty now that he's not around. Sam tells Amanda he misses her too. Amanda wants to be a family again, and so does Sam. Sam wants to know if things will be different if he comes back with Amanda. Amanda promises they will be different if he'll just come back.
