Jeffery Immelt responds to:
How do you encourage innovation by maintaining short-term profitability?

Immelt: I'd love to wimp out and say: 'These are going to be entrepreneurial companies'. Rubbish...rubbish. It's going to happen at GE.

Immelt: If you want to see history, I just won't concede [that] any of it has to happen in Silicon Valley and somebody's garage. I think we can do a lot better, a lot more effectively, a lot more efficiently inside our company.

  • General Electric, go out of business already.

    General Electric deathwatch starts now.

  • I disagree. I think start ups have an inherent advantage over large companies and that is speed, less bureaucracy/politics, and vision which is related to youth.
