@ILFamilyInstitute - actually, the SC has upheld 14 times in the last 90 years that marriage is a fundamental right under the Constitution. Our homosexual brothers and sisters are citizens and have the same inalienable rights as everyone else, and thus it's no new right being created.
The equal protection and due process clauses will be applied and gay marriage will be the law of the land.

Homosexual behavior is not a "right." Gay citizens currently have the freedom to have a relationship with whomever they wish. No one is being denied a right. And no one group should demand that we redefine marriage to fit their proclivities.

@balius88 except the whole basis for marriage isnt religion

I don't get it? Marriage is something that is for a man and woman, it means a HOLY matrimony. Why do gay people want to get married when the whole basis for marriage is religion. Then they blame it on religious groups because there not allowed too. Confusing.... Its like a Jew celebrating the rise of jesus, its hipocrytical. Just confused

I wonder where Liz and Dick would stand on "same-sex-marriage" if Mary didn't happen to be Gay? It's the only topic that they are somewhat progressive about, since it exists in their family.

You are so right gypsygrl1...There are many people who think they "own" the Civil Rights yet they never walked down the streets to protest nor did they face discrimination in school or in the workplace. Hats off to the true "owners" of the Civil Rights Movement. Gay rights is in no way equal in scope based on the numbers of people affected, but that shouldn't matter in the slightest. Discrimination is discrimination, no matter how many people are affected.

it seems that most people do not look at racial discrimination and homosexual marriage as being the same.

Rainsdad, please try to refrain from your use of derogatory language..it is very offensive and unecessary in our discussion of same gender marriage...please explain to us why you feel we should not have have the benefit of marriage under the law recognized by the federal government? States are recognizing gay marriage (it does not necessarily have to come from the voters to be legal or illegal). The sky won't fall if the feds recognize gay marriage. Interracial marriage didn't destroy the USA

LC has her right to her opinion as do you...but you realize that many states banned interracial marriage prior to Loving v Virginia? If it wasn't for their "activist" ruling, we would probably still have bans on interracial marriage today. Unfortunately there are legal benefits of marriage which hetero couples take for granted and can discard at a whim. As soon as a gay married steps over the border to a state that doesn't recognize their marriage, they are no longer protected. Thats scary!!!
trust me, its going to happen.

if you knew what the definition of an animal was, you would know that humans ARE animals.
So if you are saying that opposers of gay marriage aren't animals, than they also can't be human. Which would make sense because a normal human would not treat fellow humans so badly
