(Footage provided by C-SPAN).... House Telecom and Internet Subcommittee congressional members query YouTube's Chad Hurley and HDnet's Mark Cuban on copyright issues. Questions from Reps Upton (R), Shimkus (R), and Stupak (D). These are three separate sets of questions edited together. From the "Future of Video" Hearing on May 10, 2007. More at 463.blogs.com

  • I'm not sure that fair-use applies internationally. And youtube is certainly accessible to those outside the USA. But I agree it's a whole new can of worms when the only way to check for violation of copyright laws is to violate the privacy of users.

  • mark cuban is douche bag

  • I can't believe the questions about "private" content... If it's marked "private," it's PRIVATE. There's allowances in the Copyright Act of 1976 for non-commercial private use of copyrighted works, it's FAIR USE for all intents and purposes. Can a content owner enter your home and look through your belongings for illegal copies? No, because it's PRIVATE. Ugh. Clearly irritated...

  • "Why don't you take that stuff down?" Congressman,I got a question for you, why don't you shut the fuck up & mind you're own goddamned business?!It doesn't matter one bit that a bunch of executives, who probably lobbied you extensively and bankrolled your campaign, you pinheaded prick, are losing millions, just because copyrighted crap is on YouTube. Put up and shut up,Congressman!

  • I am a former illegalalien and you tube videos has given me more educational classes than my teachers did just in one month. And it gives me a voice when I feel all alone.thankyou for your democracy and freedom of speech.
