The pen has a barcode built into the bottom which reads dots on the page. Each page has been encoded differently so the pen knows which page it is on and your writing does get uploaded to the computer along with the audio notes. If you don't have math, science, music, or artist classes (which would require drawing shapes and formulas) then I would suggest trying out OneNote (Found in MS Office) which will record audio in a classroom and link it to your typed out notes.

Hi, say if you write on the pad, whatever you write, will it be uploaded on the computer. Also does this pen work with normal pads or do you have to buy lightscribe pads. Also I want a smart pen for uni, do you think this pen is reliable because the pens isn't cheap so want to buy the best one possiable. Nice vid. Also amazed at the pads, do they have some sort of electric circuit in the pad to make it interact with the pad. Thanks
