Our first road trip of the year to the eastern Sierras. The mountain pass opened a day before our planned trip. Whew! Special thanks to Dave from the Comfort Inn in Bishop for the road condition updates. Faster and more accurate than CalTrans' own website!
This year we want to drive the Sonora Pass by day. Because of a fire in the end of August we had to drive from Yosemite to Bridgeport over the Sonora Pass in the dark. That was a hell of a ride. Now we want to enjoy this beautiful road.

at 1 minute 9 seconds you see what i found creeps me out because of the sheer size of the mountain and the steep slopes. i have never seen any bears there but alot of people park there to sleep overnight
i really miss traveling through sonora pass and tioga pass

AT 20 SECONDS YOU SEE WHAT I HAVE NAMED "THE TWIN TOWERS"
also- there is some unbelievable trout fishing at leavitt lake. also try leavitt meadows
its torture on your brakes, as it is a 26% grade

Thanks! Your Welcome! Can you believe the skiers on the road? That pass just after opening is beautiful. Now that 120 is open it's like a flood going to and from Yosemite. I'm looking forward in taking a day off swimming in the merced. Right now it's in the owens. Dave
