www.theseoldhills.com / Tony tells about the flaws in the way that the Mooonshiners on the Discovery Channel make moonshine. Don't cook the beer in the same barrell you worked it off in.

  • Damn Tony, I agree a 100%. That show is so much bullshit, it's borderline criminal! I persoanlly wrote up over 4 pages of mistakes and misleading info on that series. Did you catch the part about the double carb 400 cc hot rod engine? Did you get that, it wasn't a typo, they actually said a 400 cc engine! I'd bet there wasn't any alcohol on that set, except for the store bought "everclear" they put in the glass column with the hydrometer! ABC agent there too. Claimed to make 180 got 110 LOL

  • @penztoy Thanks for your comment we got a couple questioning Tony's veracity in making moonshine. I've never made it but Tony makes sense.

  • I don't what show is being discussed but I do know that converting starch to sugar with heat makes great wash for making "shine." I suppose that would be considered "cooking" the corn. Malting the corn makes the enzymes available but to covert starch to sugar takes heat. Boiling the wort to make the wash doesn't make bad tasting "shine" and the very first liquid out of the still is acetone and methanol. Maybe you think that tastes good but it is poison.

  • @keithalc07 If you want my list of 4+ pages of errors, misleading crap, and mistakes I'd be happy to send it to you. Contact me thru my channel and we can exchange e-mails.

I personally make alky and have for awhile. I know what it takes and I also know what don't work for shit. I have a AFP license and currently work with a local university in their bio-fuels dept researching and testing the ability to make fuel alcohol from rice hulls and stubble.

  • Funny even Popcorn Sutton said the first part is not used.

  • WHY DID YOU DELETE MY POST!!! THIS GUY HAS NEVER MADE WHISKEY!! I CAN PROMISE YOU THAT!!
