They're not 18 any more so it would be utterly stupid for them to continue as if nothing happened while pretending that they were. Good on them for not brainlessly trying to hold on to past glory - it was what it was but it's time to move on. It'll be funny to see if their Fred Perry-wearing fan base will embrace the change of image and do likewise. Mostly their fans will stay on board but there will always be some shallow-tons who stop liking the music because the new image doesn't fit.

people have got to understand alex turner has travled the world descovering new music and composing the last shadow puppets album so his views on new music are obviously going to change and the so called "fans" that stop liking them because of they'r new sound were blatently posers. This album that arctic monkeys have done is genious, if you actually like music you will know how much time and effort went into this album and very cleverly created.
