New Orleans Car 850's Debut at the Shoreline Trolley Museum

Ribbon-cutting ceremony for freshly-restored New Orleans streetcar number 850, debuting as a service car at the Shore Line Trolley Museum in East Haven, CT, rolling out of the carbarn with the mayor of East Haven at the controls, assisted by a museum operator. The actual ribbon-cutting was performed by a regional NRHS official.

The clip was shot in two parts since the digital camera, an Olympus D-580, cannot zoom in/out while recording in movie mode (should have brought my real cmcorder that day). Also, the memory card filled up roughly two seconds before I intended the shot to end. The truncated statement at the end of the clip was "Anyway, you now have one of the most difficult choices in life--cake, or trolley". Naturally, the onlookers chose the trolley :)

I want to see some video of car 8, the Red Arrow Brilliner.

Number 8 is in need of a truck regauging operation, as it's only sitting on a shop truck and a "kind-of" regauged truck. All sorts of hardware has to be relocated in order to make the original trucks usable. This sort of work is being done for Atlanta #948, so maybe after that project is completed, #8 can see some attention. But for now, it has only made a few shop moves. I don't think I have any video of it.

Thanks. I know she has one regauged truck and one shop truck but they did pull her out a few years ago for me so I could take a few still photos.  She LOOKS great, though. I just wish they could finish her soon because she is one of only 4 Brilliners (out of a total of 40) left in existance.
