Scottish Dance Theatre of Virginia returns to the Virginia International Tattoo after winning first place for "Norfolk Ladies" and second place for "Masked Ball" at the Annual US Highland Dancing Championship Competition in July 2009; both pieces were seen during the 2009 Tattoo. The group will return in 2010 for their 12th Tattoo appearance combining with other dance groups from the United Kingdom and Canada. Scottish Dance Theatre is under the direction of Eleanor Unger, who is also the Dance Director of the Tattoo.

  • The Massed Pipes and Drums were ALL Canadian and Australian Ground Defense forces. I was there . The Drum Major on Parade was Christopher Reeser and his contingent of the 48th Highlanders of Toronto, the Canadian Air force and many others KUDOS .

  • Actually the Australians were a Boys school "Scotch College P&D" and there were two US bands Tidewater P&D and the City of Richmond.

It was not Australian ground Defence! They were Scotch college. Also Tidewater pipes and drums was an American pipe band. 48th, RHFC and 8 wing trenton were part of the CF contingent.

  • Oops..I forgot the Aussies---Scotch College of Pipers ..excellent . Didn't see the Tidewater Band nor the Valley Forge (Pa.) Highlanders on the floor. This was a Composite Band . Met P.M. Lain post show.. shook hands and will meet him in Hamilton., Ont-- I loved how they snuck in Maple Leaf Forever. So, me and the misses -sang the verse. The looks on the people If anyone saw two Maple Leaf flags being waved--it was us.
