@punkindrublicrpp In my experience I can explain the laughter. It's proof this is a song he is still emotionally attached to. While singing these lyrics it's activating intense emotions that he has get out. He's smiling, laughing, and goofing because it's better than crying on stage.

I like how he replaced "you were almost asleep, half way undressed" with "you were half way asleep, three quarters undressed." ...For no particular reason.

The face John D makes at 0:33 is priceless

great song, great sound quality too
-
this has to be one of my favorite songs like ever ever ever
-
such a beautiful song.
-
3:48 he got his lyrics backwards. its supposed to be:
"i lay right down next to you...held your head against my chest"
i think hes laughing there cause he screwed up.

A lot of songwriters use their music as outlet for all the grief they hold inside. That doesn't mean they are depressed all the time. I've actually found a lot of them to have a good sense of humor.

his laughter seemed a bit overly incongruous with the sadness of the lyrics..is it just me?
adore the song though

"I went down to the gas station for no particular reason" might Just be the quintessential MG Lyric. Amazing, of course...
