Sevilla es un municipio y una ciudad española, capital de la provincia homónima y de la comunidad autónoma de Andalucía.Sevilla contaba en 2008 con 699.759 habitantes según el censo de población,siendo la cuarta ciudad de España por población después de Madrid, Barcelona y Valencia. El municipio tiene una extensión de 140,8 km2.3 El área metropolitana de Sevilla está compuesta por 46 municipios e incluye a una población de 1.499.673 habitantes (Padrón Municipal de Habitantes, 2008), ocupando una superficie de 4.900 km2.4
Su casco histórico es uno de los más extensos de Europa, con aproximadamente 335 ha, unos tres kilómetros de largo por dos de ancho.5 Su patrimonio histórico y monumental y sus diversos espacios escénicos y culturales la convierten en una ciudad receptora de turismo nacional e internacional. Entre sus monumentos más representativos se encuentran la Giralda, la Catedral, el Alcázar, el Archivo de Indias y la Torre del Oro. Algunos de estos monumentos fueron declarados Patrimonio de la Humanidadpor la Unesco en 1987. El Museo de Bellas Artes de Sevilla es el museo más visitado de Andalucía y la segunda pinacoteca más importante de España.6
El Puerto de Sevilla, situado a unos 80 km del océano Atlántico es el único puerto fluvial de España, pues el río Guadalquivir es navegable desde su desembocadura en Sanlúcar de Barrameda hasta Sevilla, estando limitado el tamaño de los barcos que acceden a Sevilla por las condiciones de navegabilidad del río

Its historic center is one of the largest in Europe, with approximately 335 ha, about three miles long and two ancho.5 Its historical and monumental heritage and its diverse cultural and scenic areas make it a tourist city receiving national and internationally. Among its most representative monuments are the Giralda, the Cathedral, the Alcazar, the Archivo de Indias and the Torre del Oro Some of these monuments were declared World Heritage by UNESCO in 1987. The Museum of Fine Arts in Seville is the most visited museum in Andalusia and the second most important gallery Spain.6
The Port of Seville, located about 80 km from the Atlantic Ocean is the only river port of Spain, for the Guadalquivir River is navigable from its mouth in Sanlucar de Barrameda to Seville, being limited the size of ships entering Seville by the seaworthiness of the river
