  • The Anarchists in the Spanish Civil War were Syndicalists, mean they hated free markets and were more communist.

  • @ComradeMr

But they were against Stalinism and authoritarian Leninism, and they were against Fascism. So they were right when it really mattered

  • one fact you're overlooking CNT/FAI and other Anarchist groups were fighting WITH the International Leftist Brigades, the Spanish Republican government and Soviet/Mexican volunteers against the Tyrannical fascist enemy we are all brothers in arms

  • @MrFrostmourne1

Yes, the Anarchists fought alongside the International Brigades, recognizing the Communists as the lesser of two evils against the Fascists...and how did the Stalinists reciprocate their willingness to unite against a common enemy? NKVD agents attempted to purge the Spanish resistance of non-stalinists, caused deep divisions in what had previously been a strong alliance, and in the final analysis made things much easier for Franco ("divide and conquer")

  • @MrFrostmourne1

Its true they were "brothers in arms" against a common enemy, but their long-term goals were completely irreconcilable. The Anarchists were fighting for a stateless society, the Trotskyists for a Leninist authoritarian state and the Stalinists for a totalitarian state.

  • @MrFrostmourne1

Just as the US and USSR would be allies in ww2, the CNT worked with the International Brigades to stop Franco. But this does NOT reflect common ideas or goals. Nor does it change the fact that Stalinist purges contributed to the Fascist victory

  • @TheTollundWoman The anarchist were certanly no angels and commited atrocities like murder of unarmed civilians. You could atleast mention that in your video before you embellish them!

  • @marxian00

I am not an Anarchist. But I respect the Anarchists in Spain for fighting against Franco and Stalin's stooges. I also agree with certain tenets of Anarchism such as an end to hierarchical power. But forced collectivization is a byword for mass murder.

  • @TheTollundWoman

If you are now an Anarchist, what do you think of most of these Spanish Anarcho-Syndicalist groups being opposed to capitalism and advocating workers direct control over industry?

What do you think of the Spanish Anarchists call for a social revolution to collectivise all the land and factories and have the country run by worker's militia?
