  • hey there, rings are great. good idea spotting them with the belt. it looks like most of their errors are related to their ability to stabilize their shoulders as opposed to the core reference you make. try having them do it from their knees for as a progression to the push up, or raise the rings above their hip level. ring push ups are the real deal.

  • @awakenedstream Hi awakenedstream. Thanks for commenting and thanks for your advice. Great suggestions!

  • It's nice to see a martial arts school using rings.

What I don't get is that some of these students don't have the leg strength?

By the way, I go to the Wah Lum temple in Orlando, FL and was curious on what art is taught here :D

  • Hi ShaolinIronLeg. Thank you for watching this video and even more for commenting on it. These students were being introduced to new ideas for conditioning. As you can see in the video the students were testing their abilites. Had this been an actual conditioning session then you would have seen easier versions of the exercise with more repetitions and more sets.

Please visit Anta's Fitness and Self Defense online and you will read all about the Hung Gar Style Kung Fu which is emphasized..

I do not understand why those kids have training pushups on the rings, when they have big problem to do it. I think, that they have to do a lot pushups on the floor so they can to do rings pushups.

  • @Michael8Christian ...Hi Michael. Thank you so much for posting a comment. And yes, you are right. They indeed are working on push-ups on the floor in other off camera classes. This class was just a chance for the kids to sample some new ideas and to test their strength for more advanced training they are aspiring to work up to in the future. By sampling more advanced ex

ercises the students can then appreciate the lessor training they need to perfect.

  • besides the fact that every kid obviously lacked the fundamental knowledge and strength required to do even normal pushups. theres no reason to have a stool to elevate their feet off the ground when you can lower the rings and spread your feet apart on the ground for more stabilization.

  • Sir, thank you very much for your polite and gracious response. It is unexpected to say the least.

All three of your responses have thoroughly explained what I did not understand.

  • This video is an example of what can be done on still rings to compliment martial arts training. As a trainer Patrick, its up to you to implement the examples of exercises demonstrated in an expeditious manner..

  • By testing the level of their abilities they are taught to understand that the easier version or level of training they do is necessary. Just as you comprehend the points you made so are these same points driven home by these budding athletes who experience first hand how difficult these exercises are.

  • Thank you so much Patrick for taking time to post your comment. Your sentiments are not without merit. In the event this video depicted a formal private in house competitive team training workout then all your comments would be justified. However, the developmental martial artists in this video are trying out exercises they are encouraged to work up to.
