No! it's named after a young girl who was abducted and murdered years ago from here (It was either Pearland or Friendswood) on the outskirts of Houston. Her father started the Laura recovery center for other missing people.

I'm deeply saddened by our loss of the "zoo" we always partied by the Bud Light sign..I have'nt seen it yet but I'm shure the old Dirty Pelican and Mecoms peir is gone as well..I live in Winnie and we had Redfish floating in the Spindletop (fresh water side)of the SaltWater Barrier!!!! I rode the storm out at the Flyin' J ranch and at 3:00am the generators died (Drowned) 8mi inland and 19ft above sealevel!!!!
