My Pal Scout for Henry

(Sorry about my voice! I don't know why I sound that way, even Ben said it didn't sound like me at all!)

Ben and I got this for Henry's birthday next weekend. After I wrapped it, Ben thought it would be neat if we went ahead and programmed a few things so that it would be nearly-complete when Henry unwrapped it.

You go to http://www.leapfrog.com/MyPals and select if you want to download the program for Mac or PC-- we downloaded and installed it, extremely fast and easy. Hooked up Scout to the computer and started setting up Scout to say Henry's name (which he also spells it out in a song); it asked us for a few of Henry's favorite things (which we didn't know, but we figured guessing would be better, that way his parents can have a chance to play with it too) so we put in his favorite food is apples, his favorite animal is a dog (since Scout is a dog) and his favorite color is blue-- which he also sings in a song.

The program gives you a chance to download a few songs (all from their selection, not like you can add your own mp3s or anything) and one of the songs was the Birthday song-- so we went ahead and added that, and put 2 extra lullaby's on there just to play with it a bit.

So hopefully, when Henry opens it, it'll play the birthday song and spell his name for him.

The walmart.com website has some really good reviews, and I would recommend this to anyone (they have a girl named "Violet"-- I can't remember if her voice was really any different or not) and the thing is under $20. I thought (if he doesn't already have one) that it would be nice to get for Isaac too-- the age range is 6-36 months and I know there's an alphabet song and I think a counting game (up to 5) to play. It's a real cute gift! I really hope Henry likes it!

@ValleyOfTheSunGirl yes we got scout and he says our daughters name just fine :) my only problem is i wish they would let us upload our own songs into him or at least have more songs with words avalible

@ValleyOfTheSunGirl I'm not sure! I gave this to my cousin for her son's 1st birthday but my mom bought one for my nephew and she says that if the name is not available (from the list) on the little program that Scout hooks up to, then you an add your own name. She says you get to record it yourself too? I'm not sure tho!
