This is part 1 of 3 of a guitar lesson I did for VANDERBILLY.COM The entire lesson is at that site note for note. The site is completely free, you can use it as a guest without signing up or giving your email. Lots of lessons on Led Zeppelin, Journey, Boston, ZZ Top, etc. Please visit and maybe do a lesson of your own.

  • Great lesson. I'm trying to learn it. But I have a question:

The lick from 3:20-3:43 differs from when you play it from 3:54-4:00 and 4:09 - 4:15

    Which is the correct one?

    Thanks.

  • @mymailtube Sorry!!! Man, I didn't even see that. The second one is right.

  • la mejor leccion de esta cancion +10 xD

  • How'd you figure this? slowed it down? watched him on video? amazing!

  • @dogheartch Many hours in front of an old record player at half speed. Picked up some from another guitar player in high school, and finally tweaked it when I got a computer program called TRANSCRIBE. Slowed some of it way down on that program to pick out the little parts that I had been playing wrong for years. It helps to watch videos of guitar players too. There are so many places on the neck of a guitar to do the same lick so it helps if you know where the lick was played originally. Thanks

  • I just wanted to say thank you to everyone for the kind words on this lesson! Alvin was my guitar hero when I was in high school and he is probably responsible for some of the lower test scores that I racked up because I was too busy trying to learn this song note for note. If I had to do it again, the grades would probably be even worse!! ;-)

  • Fuck yeah!!! Gracias compadre, esta muy buena la leccion

  • WOW! First off, great job! . i play guitar and have always loved his style. watching this slowed down for us made me realize why the average person and even some musicians cant even realize what all is going on. they dont realize how good he is. watching this video made me realize why Alvin Lee is one of the most under rated guitar players. in my opinion he was one of the best for that time era. you just showed us everything that the untrained ear missed, lol. thank you for this video.

  • Thumbs up if u sweat learning this.

  • Thanks man. I have been sooo intimidated by this lick but now after all these year, I think I'll give it another shot....

  • @mymailtube thanks for sharing this intro, i have been dreaming to play this since i was a kid

  • Your a real good teacher !

  • Excellent. How you figured that out is beyond my playing.

  • lol he def sped up the video for the fast parts

  • Excellent

  • This is very well laid out with what seems to be correct notes. Alvin really never plays the exact same way all the time anyway, but ya gotta have a good foundation to be able to 'jam' it up. What's really most important I've noticed, is how it all time's out. The all important sublte nuances and knowing how to rock it up and make it swing is more important than the exact notes, I say. Capture that Alvin spirit and rock the shit out of it! :)

  • thank you so much tony11122, it's about 30 years that I wanted to learn this intro
