Shiatsu massage techniques are extremely healing and relaxing types. The method was first introduced in Japan to cure muscle tightness and pain but today, it is practiced in many countries. Shiatsu massage techniques are very effective and are performed with the clothes. It is a massage technique which is based on old Chinese principles of harmonizing the natural energy centers of body and removing blockages thereby enhancing the normal flow of blood and important energy by opening all meridians (energy points). The technique utilizes stimulation of the pressure points.

The technique is basically a derivative of acupuncture without the use of needles. The difference between both techniques basically relies on the placement of massage. Acupuncture is performed only on the contact or action points whereas shiatsu therapy expands its horizons beyond accu-points and makes use of more massage movements.

This form of therapy has evolved continually with changing times. The recent version of shiatsu techniques utilizes movements that include grasping, vibrations, shaking and other movements to invigorate and loosen stiff muscle areas.
