  • Reading newspapers in a daily basis is also another way to build vocabulary. Usually, I tend to forget a vocabulary that I already learned if I don’t use it often. News usually use the same/similar terms and they help reminding me of the words and their meanings. Knowing the context in which the term is used is also another benefit of reading newspapers.

  • yes Yen, vocabulary building really helps your answer contain "mature language", like saying "acquiring capital", instead of saying "get money"

  • Interesting tip, never heard this one before. I'll have to try this next time and let you know if it worked. It will be a real challenge to actually sit down with a crossword before the exam instead of going nuts stressing and smoking every 5mins!

  • This is so true, I always get stuck on words during an exam and have trouble thinking of more knowledgeable vocabs. Since the exams are coming up, I will probably try this and see if it will work or not and put it to the test.

  • Interesting, I have heard that doing crossword puzzles keep you mind sharp and builds you vocabulary, i just never gave any thought to doing a crossword puzzle before and exam. But i guess it makes sense, they always say older people should do crossword puzzles to keep their mind sharp so inevitably it should be the same for us. I'm going to try this on my next exam! A good tip just before mid-terms! Thanks! Chitussi MRK460MT
