VR5000 LCD BACKLIGHT MOD

Hi, I thought i would share this mod to the YAESU VR5000 scanner,as i am sure that a lot of you would prefer a dimmer display for night time use!!..Please take care with insulating the joints etc and check all your work before re-assembly.......Cheers for now..........Kev.........G7ILP

Hi,ok about your comments.I just wanted to keep this mod as basic as possible to enable most people to be able to carry it ot without having to be a real techno bod!! I know you have to drill a hole in the case but i think most people with this scanner would not want to sell it on anyway.............Kev

do u have a mod to install a lithium battery to keep the clock backed up

A switch on the side..? How about use an infrared "switch circuit" wired to the internal power source, and exchange an LED inside for the receiver phototransistor, and used that as the switch to lower the voltage, rather than the hole on the side.. you could have made some kind of remote switch. Doubled or swapped a function button as a dimmer? :)
