Uhm, you're thinking of dog FIGHTS, not dog RACES. These dogs are worth 5-digit sums, and at least in the case of my adopted dog, fed raw rabbit every day, given tons of socialization, excellent medical attention, and in general treated like hmmm.... racing horses?

They were originally used for coursing hare and rabbit, but when thats banned racing is the next best thing I guess.

i used to race a greyhound called rock on tommy, he was known as a chaser he would be leading the race when out in front he would drop back behind the other dogs then take the lead again you coldnt put big bets on him the only time he won was when he took the lead on the winning line. purely by chance always kept you on the edge of your seat.but won an easter race and cup purely by chance .it was amusing to watch ,i was told to enter him in a longer race to stop him playing 650 mtrs still same

Are people really that shallow? This is no different then damn dog fighting!

Sure you get people that say "Oh but they're very well looked after,"

Of course they'll be looked after so long as these poor dogs are bringing in the cash, until their fifth year, then they get thrown out to research or if they feel nice they'll euthanise.
