The issue of child abuse is important enough for many of you to add your thoughts. I read every single comment that I get. Some of you post your personal stories and it is sometimes not possible for me to make those posts public because of your age or because the story is just too personal. I still appreciate and respect what you have to say even if I cannot publish it.

My hope is that any child caught up in an abusive situation calls the above number so that the abuse can be stopped.

I was also 8 when molested by my stepfather and I told when I was 12, and he's all crying talking about, "I don't remember doing anything like that", and then they tell him if he will agree to 2 years counseling, he'll avoid charges....he continued abusing me, but I rebelled, and then was told that I was the one breaking up the family. He left my mother for someone half his age, with 2 little girls; he's now a reg sex offender cause he did it to them...

Trust me, I worked for Child Protective Services - immediate repsonse unit - for two years, referrals come in like they are on a conveyor belt. Like Lucy and Ethel at the chocolate factory. It's a thankless job, you're damned if you do and damned if you don't. But I'm glad I played a part in saving and helping many children. Not many workers last more than three years.
