actually, they're not totally lipsyncing if you listen carefully! the music IS playing in the background, but at every part, each person is really singing into the mike, so you sorta hear a double voice. this is really commonly done in korean performances, and i agree with what philosophy says, that they do it so as to not compromise on their vocal performance :)
btw, 1:28 is totally one of my fav parts of this song :)
super junior's got a lot of stage presence. Each of their members have honed a certain Charisma that's unique to them but works for the group also...so even if they're lip syncing people don't mind cuz they really just want to see that awesome stage presence that super junior has...
sometimes they lypsinc to not compromise the good quality of the music. Don't' Don requires a LOT of dance moves and stage presence, and sometimes it can really fuck the music. so they lypsinc not because they can't sing, but because it's necessary to make a good performance.
