Its a 3.8 V6..Before you start talkin bout me having a V6 instead of an v8 :P..keep this in mind

It's my first car, i found out that my insurance company might not even be able to insure me b.c i recently got my license, and even if they could, it would be really expensive...so theres the main reason i didnt get a v8.. :(

And no, i didnt get any help from the parents.. i get people saying mom and dad bought it for you huh? but nope..i payed every single cent on this car, they gave me one free tank of gas, and thats it..i payed for everything.. :D

Another reason is b/c of gas, and the great deal i got on this car..

its a 98, and its in amazing condition, inside and out, there are no problems with it now (when i bought it the lights were stuck up, and there was a decent chip on the bumper, but the previous owners fixed it for free) :)

My car is not completely stock..had a few small things done to it..

The exhaust system has been redone and it has true duals
i also have a stage two clutch system
The car's computer chip has been modified (i think the previous owner said 220-225hp rather than 200hp)
I put black corvette z06 rims on it
I painted the calipers red

anyone know if swapping for a v8 is possible.. and if it is.. how easy/hard is it.. how long could it take.. and how much?

damn near just buy another 'bird. look for an LT1. i have a 3.4 v6 firebird, black on black like yours w/ a T/A functional hood. its my commuter car. my other car is a c4 vette. in time, you can prolly just save this bird and get a v8

@Big8Dee yeah i def. plan on gettin a T/A.. just as soon as insurance can cover me. I actually called them a few days ago for the 2nd time.. and i asked them about insuring me on a T/A.. they still said doubt they could do that, and even if they could.. cost me bout $400-$500 a month.. thats wayy to much for me.. i pay $125 on this car.. which is really good figuring i dont make a ton of hours/money now that im back in school.. down the road tho.. def gonna get myself a T/A.. probably WS.6

and the v8 be nice too haha.. but im not ready to be paying a ton of money for insurance..

I just got a Firebird like this today! Black.. 3.8 with the 5 speed manual tranny. Can't wait to start doing some mild mods! Yours looks gorgeous!

@SilverSkyFilms1 Not sure if you bought the hood or T/A by now but the hood costs 4 to 500 bucks you might find them cheaper at junk yards. I am planning on getting a T/A also maybe the 70s or 80s ones

Man,I would honestly just keep that and build it up,headers,exhaust,intake,get all the bolt ons and then,start doing more work like a cam or head work.look at intense performance(dot)com,they have set world records for the GM 3.8 V6.
