This was a video for a contest that was supposed to be about making fun of your bad days. Obviously people on YouTube just take things WAY too seriously.
Please do NOT critique me! As there are MANY warnings on this video, these clips are from 2006 and 2007. I wonder if ANY of you actually stop for a minute and think *wow... that was 3 to 4 years ago. That is a LONG time ago. At the time of these clips I was a year 9(freshman) and year 10(sophomore) and now(2010) I'm in UNIVERSITY/ College, STUDYING. See what I mean by its been years?
Like it said in the video, I stopped riding at the end of 2008. This was due to the horse riding lessons costing way too much money. I had to stop and save for my studies. Surely any mature young adult OR adult for that matter would say that really great, giving up a passion/ hobby for education.
I never regret stopping. Sure I did miss riding at the start, but since I left, I've gotten into other things, I went out and lived a little more. I met so many new people, and learnt soo much in that time.
I'm still not too sure whether I'll go back when I'm older. I might be too busy, but I definitely do and WILL photograph horses. But admitly, I'm now a city girl, but somewhere deep down, I am a farmgirl, I'll just have to find her when I'm older. Also, what are you studying Roxi? Well, This year I'm doing photography, and then I'm off to get a diploma in Patisserie(for those people who don't know, it's a pastry chef.)
And for those who say it's not the pony's fault(aka Princess) Well... I just SO wish you could climb onto her and give her a go ;) She is a hooner. She does hoon up to a jump, she does like to be bossy, and LOVES to not listen to half halts and etc. I rode her from end of 2006 to 2008, and all the way through those years, I always had the same problems with her. I've had loads of lessons on her, but nothing I did she ever LISTENED. So in the end, I just accepted, that's her. Before I stopped for a bit in 2007, I accepted the fact and just let her go. But of COURSE people has then critique me and say "Your pony is going too fast!"
But I do want to say, the last time I ever rode her(in 2008).. she was perfect. She didn't hoon, she didn't flip her head or anything. It finally clicked... but sadly I never got to ride her afterwards. She did leave the riding school, and not long after I left too.
As someone pointed out the comments,
"its not that your a rider, but it seems, correct me if im wrong, that when the pony start to act up, you become a little tense, which its bad for your balance yeah. not in all the vids, but in a few you do look quite tense, no offence taken, you should see my vid "iconic Empire" and see how damn tense i am in the whole thing and how bad my riding is in it, everyone has their bad days, even the best =)" -- rotansilversplash
Thank you! Thank you SO much! That is EXACTLY what always happened to me. You are LITERALLY the only person out of 900+ comments who pointed it out. I... would LOVE to be taught by you :P Because of the pony I ride in majority of these videos always loved to speed to a jump, I use to always get scared, so I would tense up, squeeze my legs as tight as I can, and tighten the reins. It was my ONLY option, I didn't know anything else. And because she has a bouncy canter I never could sit to her canter. She is a very wide and bouncy pony. Her canter always use to knock the air out of me.
A message to all those people who say you suck.
I hope you all know that you're being very harsh. Horse riding is NOT the easiest sport in this world, and you should know that for yourselves if you actually ride. Surely there has been days for you when you just not feeling right and everything keeps going wrong. I am a girl who believes in Karma, and I hope one day it does hit you back very hard. No one deserves to be put down, especially like this, ESPECIALLY on clips that is soo outdated.
Oh and P.S I really do like how most people who been critiquing are all in the age of 10 to 14. You know.... You're still young, you don't know ANYTHING about life. Act your age, not the age you wish you could be. Rather than putting older people down, learn from their mistakes and actually LISTEN to them. I hate how generations these days are just growing up too fast. Just be a kid for once! You can be a grown up when you get there.
You all are just too harsh. Live a little! Have fun! Nothing in this world is perfect. If you mess up, who cares! Smile and carry on. Horse riding is about FUN not about whose better than each other.

some of the comments you get on here are horrible... she clearly said her 'bad days' and said no hate... not all riding school horses plod around the arena, and we all have to start somewhere. nobody on here got on a horse and could ride any better than this straight away. leave her alone.

@ScottysGirl414 Of course you're supposed to sit while cantering, unless you're out in a field for a good stretch or with a horse who prefers the rider off his back, however you should sit up the last few strides before a fence.A lighter seat does not look 'better',what looks better is a rider who can sit in sync to the horses stride, nor does it help you balance more. For 1 it makes it harder for the horse to take off at a jump and 2 if the horse runs out or refuses, you're more likely to fall off.

omg no one of you is a good rider whahaah!!

@mollybbe123 your not supposed to sit while cantering. You need a lighter seat because first, you look better while riding and second, it helps you balance more. So HA

You all need to lay off and stop being so stuck up! BTW mollybbe123, about the sitting to the canter, it is called two point pos. Are you familiar with that?

For goodness sake! This video was posted 3 years ago?! She's probably improved a lot since this - everyone has to start somewhere!

The comments you get on this video are ridiculous, not your riding!
Cause I bet all of these trolls were pro-riders as soon as they first hopped on a horse and never fell off or did anything wrong. Idiots. Everyone has to learn somehow right

I understand it's hard. I have a new horse I'm nervous on. It just takes time to build confidence.

K just checking but r these school ponies? Ik it said no crit but rly....if u cant control schoool ponies even on bad days like at 1:00 that was kinda pathetic....... Ride a real horse and ur not gonna be nearly as good as u thought u were. I speak from expirience.
MyaXXKristin 2 months ago
@MyaXXKristin Nope, none of these are school ponies/horses. My riding school actually doesn't own any horses/horses that people ride. All horses(back when I rode) were leased to them from people who didn't have time to ride them themselves. So they were what you call *real* horses. The little brown one(with a hind sock) is actually a very naughty pony. She's very strong for her height and age.

@MyaXXKristin ~She likes to race up to jumps. Like seriously... she'll see a jump and do anything possible to get over it. If you try and pull her back, she'll either do a few jumps, throw her head, or just simply take off whenever she saw an opening to take control over the rider. I at the time wasn't *physically* ready to ride her, but she was the only pony free for me to ride. So it's like I could have ridden someone else. I was stuck with her.

@MyaXXKristin ~ In the end, I just decided to go with it. I would give up too easily just to get odd her. I did somewhat like her... but now looking back after so many years(The clips of her was back in 2006), I actually think it was a waste of time to ever even accept the fact that I had to ride a pony that I literally had no idea how to control, and my instructor wasn't very willing to TEACH me how to control her.
