ANCHOR:
The controversy hit headlines around the world last week: the Chinese version of Skype, called Tom-Skype, has been allowing the China's Internet police to monitor and filter the private conversations of its users.
Citizen Lab researchers at the University of Toronto released a report on October 1 that uncovered China's monitoring activities.
But perhaps as significant as the monitoring itself is the content of what was being monitored.
Internet police have filtered thousands of messages containing keywords related to Falun Gong, Taiwan independence, and the CCP.
In particular, the report says that "Many of the politically sensitive messages logged by TOM-Skype make reference to the...campaign that encourages Chinese citizens to quit the Chinese Communist Party."
The campaign was sparked by an editorial series published by The Epoch Times called "Nine Commentaries on the Chinese Communist Party," and over 40 million Chinese have renounced their affiliation with the Party since then.
Skype has been a way for volunteers of the movement to send the Nine Commentaries to people inside China. Now it's become clear that Skype is allowing their communications to be monitored and censored.
Fuck Chinese communist government. The leaders of the government of China are all sons of the bitch!
