This is a poem I wrote a while ago. Comments are appreciated.
"monday morning song"
Blue and yellow falling around me,
my beautiful girl waiting to be hurt
and broken into little splinters across
the ground like pepper on snow that hasn't yet been
shoveled off her car. "Don't go anywhere.
Please just lie down and let me smell
your hair a while longer"
than the tide of your dress-
blue and yellow flowers; sunlight on sea
crashing into the carpet when it falls
off of you and into me.
"Please, stay just a while so I can run
my hand along your skin"
reminds her of me-
in photographs, I'd tickle her until she turned
pink lips smothered by gloss off a Sephora rack.
"I'm not gonna come back, just so you know,"
she said not for the first time, but
with a rhythm as fragile as dripping water
drops from the sinking feeling in my stomach
that lay on hers like
blue
and
yellow
patterns
to compliment jeans
and
"don't try to call, I won't answer"
and
Post-it paper stuck on the wall
and
"you're out of instant coffee"
and
the TV's still blasting morning shows and lies
and
"you're out of your mind if you expect me to stay"
and
daylight streams through the blinds to make parallel
Blue and yellow lines
That I wish I hadn't crossed.
Nice very original
