For Research, we acknowledge Dr. Shankar Prasad for his many achievements in bringing science forward to benefit public policies, especially for those in the most polluted and impacted communities in the state. As Deputy Secretary for Science at Cal EPA, Dr. Prasad led the Agency in improving the role of science in its decision-making processes. As the Health Advisor to the Chairman of the California Air Resources Board, Dr. Prasad's efforts led to the adoption of environmental justice policies. As the Health Officer at the South Coast Air District, he initiated the air pollution health effects research program. Now, as the Executive Fellow at the "Coalition for Clean Air", Dr. Prasad successfully collaborated with 40 non-profits and the Air Resources Board to ensure that a portion of carbon-pricing revenue goes to reduce emissions in the most polluted communities.
