The Australian shepherd is a breed of a herding dog that was developed on ranches in western North America, particularly Boulder, CO.

@Crikin5 Their r many theories but the main one is n the 1700s a aussie predecessor was developed in Spain and France w/the help of Basque shepherd who used dogs similiar 2 aussies 2 herd sheep. When sheep eventually were exported 2 Australia the Basque shepherd and their sheepdogs accompanied them. In time Basque shepherd migrated to North America and brought their "australian" sheepdogs with them. These dogs were bred w/other herding dogs in the U.S. allowing the Australian Shepherd 2 develop.
