The motion: "It's time to end affirmative action"
Moderator: Robert Siegel
Speaking for the motion: John H. McWhorter, Terence J. Pell and Joseph C. Phillips
Speaking against the motion: Khin Mai Aung, Kimberlé Crenshaw and Tim Wise
IQ2US marks the launch of Oxford-style debating -- one motion, one moderator, three advocates for the motion, three against -- in New York City. Each evening begins at 6:00P with a complimentary cocktail period. As you enter the theater before the debate starts at 6:45P, you cast your vote for or against the evening's motion. Those results are displayed midway through the debate as each side makes its statements. After all six panelists speak, the audience has a chance to ask the speakers questions and vote again. The debate finishes with brief summations from the panelists, the votes are tallied and a winning side is declared.
Why has every test of intelligence always shown the same racial distinctions, despite decades of trying to tip the scales in the preferred favor?
Why is it that an 85% black NBA player population is not "racist?"
Why is it that 100,000+ years of adaptation to completely different environments would result in differences in everything except the brain?
Why is it that the more preposterous the claim, the more "ignorant" you are if you don't believe it?
so much more...

@knightschwartz O no I hate no one. I don't think people should be hired based on color but based on intellect. Thats all im saying. Right now we have a raced based system and union thats majority white and now even whites are being discriminated against. It was only a matter of time.
Just think about it. Prior to euro world infestation everyone was free. You didn't HAVE to work for anyone but yourself and your family. Youd farm, hunt, fish & fuck all day until the euro came.

@whiteagent1977 Well, are you talking about the NBA or any sports league? In my working experience many companies do like increasing their diversity.A lot of them will have company website photos of their diverse staff.IT firms are filled with nonwhites like Asians and Indians.People in HR tend to be from Liberal arts background and so their mentality is get a diverse workforce. So the accusation of white guy over black if all is equal seems suspect.

Is anyone watching what's happening in the former Rhodesia right now? Mugabe is kicking all the white farmers off their rightfully owned land. And what has been the result? Well, the black man can't produce as much food on those farms and the blacks in the country are all starving to death or dying from cholera. Blacks say that the Mugabe people and black liberators in general are WORSE than apartheid. Yes, it's true, check out some of the news blogs.

Oh, and the 2nd black guy to speak had some really good points. But, he's wrong on the tiebreaking system. Color should NEVER be the reason someone gets a position. Judge me not by the color of my skin, but the content of my character.

If you want to get into a school, it should be based on the tests, not the color of your skin. This is so ass backwards.

@TiaSaysSo Do you or anyone know how many states apply affirmative action in 2012 and in what areas( education, jobs, etc)? I'm curious, because, like the black guy said, there is no way a black guy can take a job that a white guy was more qualified to have and expect to live in a loving integrated society.

Whoa!It looks like Tim 'Wise' learnt his arguments from a septic tank. All that shit about Whites having priviligies in the past and n mention of the mass influx of immigrants from all over the world to the USA, who were also escaping slavery.Hell even present day people from Africa come to the USA and perform better than affirmative action addicts.

@whiteagent1977 Your very words betray your misunderstanding. But I suppose everyone must play devils advocate at some point. Better to be sure people understand the whole of the situation lest they themselves be victimized.
