Swing For The Crown 2008 - London Swing Dance Society

After three heats, here is the final of Stompin's Swing For The Crown lindy hop dance contest.
Although some of the finalists could not attend, that still left seven couples to battle it out in what turned out to be a bit of a marathon!
As you will appreciate, given the length of the contest, I have shown those parts featuring the best and most varied dance moves.

The couple placed first: Moe Sakan and Jamie Cameron. I've just found a wonderful example of lindy choreography and Moe's dancing: Stepane Olive and Moe Sakan at the Odeon Juin 2007. Video a little hazy, but the dancing, wow.

I was there that night!! It was so hard trying to decide who was the best when they're all so good, this is the kind of dancing I dream of being able to do! Maybe in a few years, or er decades...

Since I'm a couple years late stumbling across this video, the names of those who placed in this competition are no longer on the LSDS website. Could anyone tell me the name of the couple that placed first? I'm absolutely enthralled by their dancing & haven't seen anyone move like that since Hellzapoppin'. :)

They were all fantastic. Had to be difficult to judge this heat.

I hope if I move to london I can learn to swing there because in my town there is no club for this great dance

Wir waren mit der Tanzschule an einem Montag da .......Man muß das erlebt haben ......Man kann das leider nicht in Worte fassen.........

I know a few of the dancers here, they are all excellent. the thing i like the most is the fact they are dancing real Savoy indy hop. Their expression and joy is over flowing. Unlike certain 'swing' dancers i could mention who have been taught to dance exactly like their teachers and had all their individuality eradicated, to the point of all wearing the same shirts. expressions and general nervousness of making a mistake in front the pompous old fart that taught them. Keep it real!
