A amazing, powerful, convicting and challenging song by Jon Foreman from Switchfoot. This is my first ever attempt at making a video so I apologize for the sloppiness......

  • No I didn't do it.....it is the cover of the Spring EP I think. I wanted to find something that had his name on it.

  • This is what I love about Jon Foreman. His songs are things you NEVER hear any Christian artist even attempt to sing.

This song reminded me of my old church. It was such a mask-filled church. Luckily, God has blessed me with the total opposite! :)

  • Isaiah 58

  • I don't want to be insensitive to anybody's situations but if you consider the church you are a part of to be hypocritical and showy then can I encourage you? Please realise that you are a part of the body in that place and you have an opportunity to prophesy the truth into that place, hopefully leading the congregation away from sin. Wouldn't that be better than moving to a different church and leaving your brothers and sisters to miss out?

  • @rumney7431 ...except you need verse 18 in there as well :)

  • @rumney7431 YES! Glad someone has got it...

  • Jon Foreman writes some of the best music maybe ever. So convicting.

  • @tharpey don't you get it? He's talking about the hypocrisy in the churches. and I know hands on because I JUST left my church of 13yrs because of reasons like this. I was in the music ministry for two years there, singing and playing guitar and there is alot of "show" that goes on. They teach you to connect with the crowd more then you are supposed to connect with God. Jon and the band have ALWAYS said that they were devout christians and will never turn away from that,

  • @TheSubdivisions He's talking about the how accepting Jesus Christ is a lifestyle, not a religion. He's saying that people take church and God as a religion, a weekly routine of every sunday. When there's no relationship between them and God.

  • Can somebody make it clear to me what this song is about? I am not sure if I quite understand. I need a song about social justice for my religion class, thanks :)

  • @animalsweare1 I direct you to check out casting crowns. They definitely sing these aspects of our faith and live with God :p.

This song pretty much echoes right out of Malachi. The line in this song about the homeless being abandoned strikes me. I frequently justify to my own mind that they'd waste it on alcohol, or drugs. God reminds me that's not for me to decide. I am simply called to give of the generosity God has shown me.

A very strong one is "while you were sleeping" by them.
