a film by Gili Nadav
Director of photography - Ido Biran

The film 'Hilton Tel-Aviv' is a short documentary film made as part of a series of documentary films about buildings and people of Tel Aviv. This series allowed the makers to enter various buildings in the city and document the internal functioning of these buildings.

The film depicts a slice of the 19 floors of the hotel: the dark basements floors of the hotel, the floors of rooms with panoramic views of the city, and the lobby which connects the lower with the higher floors. The film tells the stories of the people who work behind the scenes such as the Elvis impersonating chef in the locker rooms, the executive lounge waiter on the top floor who juggles in his spare time, and the melancholy lobby pianist who insists playing depressing tunes. These are only some of the characters who make up the human tapestry of the hotel staff. It is interesting to see how the different spaces of the building, similar in essence to a small city, affect differently the people who work in them, the residents of the 'City of Hilton Tel Aviv'.

  • Hey, I've been working there for 2 months. What a gem this video is. Some of the people in the vid are still there now, and it's cool to see all the other differences between then and now. The video itself was made very well in my opinion. It's quite meditative too. Thanks for sharing this. I'm gonna do my part to push up the viewings.
