Mattie at her best. Everything she learned from quartets, from working with Marion Williams and Imogene Green and Ruth Davis, applied to her own unique vision. She takes a good two-octave range and changes her vocal sound about a half-dozen times. From 2:30 on, she's growling for the ages. It's a shame that America didn't hear more of her. But the Stars did most of their work post-1963 in Europe. Mucho thanks for posting this! (Great tambourine.)
