  • im in. I need some new marimba rep and I also need to place a steve weiss order...need some chamois beaters, might as well get some stout stuff so he can sign it when i meet him later this year.

  • It's maybe not the MOST mainstream piece ever, but I'd like to throw a vote out there for Abe's "Wind Sketch." It's only 5 or 6 minutes and it has a variety of techniques and types of phrasing involved. Stout etudes also sound good.

    Ive been trying to learn thins its just aloy of coordination ad its not that hard to read.

  • I suggest doing Tanaka's Two Movements for marimba.

  • Answer: Yes, I'm in on learning the piece! I would like to suggest that the etude would be playable on at least a 4 1/3 octave marimba if not a 4 octave. A lot of us don't have access to a 5 octave unfortunately. Secondly, I wouldn't worry about picking a piece that's too hard since I'm betting that most of us that follow the show are pretty dedicated percussionists who have a decent set of hands.
