Chandler Ashton Grafner

Chandler came into this world on April 12, 2000 to Christina Grafner and Joshua Norris
in Colorado

Chandler went to heaven on May 6 2007.

Chandler was a timid, shy little boy.

Christina Grafner has another son, named Dominick with her boyfriend Jon Phillips.

October 2004
A report is made to CPS about Chandler and Dominick. It is suspected that Christina and Jon and neglecting and abusing them.

The report states that there is a four year old boy (Chandler) who is not potty trained, still feeding off a bottle who is fearful of his father.

June 2005
A report is made to CPS about Christina Grafner smoking around her children, who both have asthma.

September 2005
Chandler and a neighbour child are found wandering on a busy street.

Christina Grafner was charged with child abuse and was sentenced to probation for one year.

Christina and Jon break up.

December 2005
2 reports are made that Christina Grafner refuses to take Chandler for counselling. Chandler's maternal grandmother called CPS to report that his mother had moved away with her two children.

March 2006
Christina Grafner is caught driving with her two sons in a car, under the influence of drugs. The boys are reported to have been neglected.

The boys are placed with their maternal grandmother temporarily.

May 2006
Chandler and his brother were placed in the care of Jon Phillips and his girlfriend Sarah Berry.

January 2007

Jon Phillips is given permanent custody of Chandler and Dominick.

Chandler's school makes a report to CPS after Chandler shows bruises and claims that Jon abuses him.

Social workers dismiss the allegations as unfounded

April 2007
Chandler's school reports again to CPS that Chandler has not been in school for 5 weeks.

CPS does not investigate.

While in the care of Jon, Chandler suffered beatings, starvation and harsh "discipline".

Dominick witnesses Chandler's abuse and also suffers abuse.

Dominick would later tell his therapist that for discipline he and Chandler would be forced to take cold showers or eat fish.

The fish would sometimes make them vomit, in which case Jon would force them to eat the rest of the fish and the vomit.

Jon would reward Dominick for informing him when Chandler didn't obey the rules.

Dominick told Jon that Chandler had taken a piece of pizza. Jon gave him a yellow rubber ball.

Chandler was locked in the bottom of a small closet. He had no food or water. He was given a kitty litter pan to use for a bathroom.

Chandler was forced to sleep in his waste, on an air mattress in the bottom of the closet.

May 6 2007

Dominick said he had awakened, but was told by Jon and Sarah to stay in his bedroom. They were putting a couch back together.

Chandler was taken out of the closet and placed on the couch. Jon and Sarah then cleaned the apartment.

Jon and Sarah took a blanket and "the box" (kitty litter pan ) out of the closet Chandler had been locked in and threw them in the dumpster.

Chandler threw up and Sarah called 911 and sat on the couch and watched television.
Chandler went into cardiac arrest.

An autopsy found his body to be covered in numerous bruises, cuts and contusions. He weighed 34 pounds.

Chandler's cause of death was listed as starvation and dehydration.

Jon and Sarah were charged with Chandler's murder.

During the trial Nancy Krebs, director of nutrition at children's hospital said it would have taken one or two weeks to cause the dehydration Chandler had suffered from.

"It is quite apparent that he was quite ill...I can't say if he was able to walk or not, but if he could, it wouldn't be very fast or very far because of the loss of muscle in his legs...His hands and feet would have been cold because his body was trying to conserve energy. He would have had very little desire to move around"

Jon Phillips was sentenced to life in prison and an additional 48 years. Sarah Berry was sentenced to 48 years in prison.

@MarvinandLisa I believe that Dominick was taken into the custody of Child's Services immediately after Chandler was found. As for where he is as of now, I'm not quite sure, I do know he and Chandler's mother was pregnant at the time of Chandler's death with a third child though and she said she wanted to raise this child properly.
