  • I had a CH150 that made the same noise. Ended up being the gear lash had changed somewhat due the main rear wheel bearings going out of spec. You'll have to take that whole rear step-down bearing / clutch apart to get to it, but you'll find the main bearing in there. Does your rear wheel have any 'wobble' in it if you shake it? Even a little bit is tell-tale.

  • I'm guessing its the 'needle bearing' in the CLUTCH, get some "Bearing Grease" and put a tad bit on your finger and rub it around the 'needles' on the bearing. It's the inside bearing on the clutch. I'm not sure your clutch has a needle bearing but If so I'm sure that's your problem. The thing about CVT is it ALWAYS has noises that are annoying. Mine ticks kinda while I ride. I also cut open my CVT cover for air flow.

  • thanks this helps me aswell

  • Hi dhempy ; did you get this problem solved? I have an 05' burgman 400 with the exact same noise. Any help much appreciated.

  • Sounds like flat spots on the bearing races...

  • Did you find out what the problem was?

Also, to get to the final drive assembly, did you have to remove the under cover? I find that's the hardest piece to remove and if I can get to the final drive without removing it, that would save alot of time and headache!

  • lemme guess...something to do with the centrifical weights on the clutch mechanism...

  • Hi from Spain, i think your bearing is burned, you need check the level oil on the final reduction, i think you must fill some oil. Bye.

  • it's your bearing i think

in my opinion it's mormal, it's the wear that made this!

I see this on a lot scooter of which mine

(sorry for my bad english) :/

good work for your seven ;) congratulation !! bye

  • It sounds to me like variator rollers are making the noise
