Bardo perform "One Step Further" (UK Eurovision entry) on the Christmas Top Of The Pops 1982. Bardo were Sally Ann Triplett and Stephen Fisher......and I worked with Sally Ann's cousin Lisa Triplett......
@MrHullboy Yeah, maybe a little cheesy but at least they were more memorable than, say, er....Love City Groove...Samantha Janus?! Bucks Fizz, Bardo, Sweet Dreams, Belle and the Devotions, Johnny Logan. Not all winners but still worthy hits in their own right. Good strong proper pop songs with a beat, a hook and a melody.
Fascinating fact! Did you know Mike and Bobby from Bucks Fizz sing backing vocals on this, as they were going to record it (Bardo were managed by Nichola Martin, who also managed the Fizz). Reminiscent of My Camera Never Lies, isn't it? Love the schlurps and the shimmery bits, and the "tooken"! Fab drumming and synths. Look at pre-mullet Pat Sharp at the end too!
Jimmy Savile was wearing the same Top of the Pops T-shirt one on the 27/5/76 & 27/4/78 editions, and makes it another appearence on the second part of Christmas 1982 (30/12/82). The 1st time i heard this song was back in 2007 as part of TOTP2's Eurovision special and to mention that Sally Ann Triplett was previously a member of Prima Donna before that.
