This is the second web movie for the climate justice campaign of young friends of the earth germany. The worlds poorest people are already suffering the effects of climate change, even though they have done the least to cause it. The Polynesian island Tuvalu is destined to disappear beneath the ocean with rising sea levels. 12,000 people are planning their own evacuation. And it is not only in Oceania that people are threatened by the impact of climate change. Estimates suggest that there are over 20 million environmental refugees and this number will increase over the next thirty years to 200 million. We need a strong and fair climate agreement in Copenhagen.
We demand that:
1. environmental refugees will be covered by the Geneva Refugee Convention
2. industrialised countries agree to unconditionally reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 40% by 2020 and 100% by 2050, through domestic action alone
3. rich countries pay their climate debts.
Great animation and nice sound... Wish you would have the info on the website in english too.
