This is an innovative and cool EDC knife. Made of Sandvik 13C26 steel, the blade is perfectly sized and shaped for EDC tasks. Blade deployment is fast and sure with a integral flipper design that operates smoothly and provides an authoritative deployment. The grey G10 scales on this model are well executed and provide a sure grip as does the jimping on the blade. The clip is kind of goofy and overly wide (and mounted too low on handle) but it is strong and functional. These G10 scales are handsome and comfortable however I would like to see them made thinner as well as some lightening holes in the liners to save a few micro ounces. Still at 2.2 oz this NRG is very pocketable and a breeze to carry. One downside is the goofy looking clip that does not allow deep enough carry, but I can live with it. The Kershaw NRG comes in two versions: this smaller one Mdl 1740 and the larger one Mdl 1745. I sold my 1745 as I felt it was too a bit too chunky and heavy for the price and I much prefer this smaller version for EDC. In fact it will rate as one of my favorite EDC choices. //////////////////////////// Nutnfancy Likability Scale: 9 out of 10

  • the flipper design is not an extended portion of the tang. it is a separate piece of metal that runs in a track cut into the liners. very cool but collects pocket lint.

  • my mora knife fixed blade plus sheath plus paracord is 3.25 ounces with a good four inch carbon blade, price 10$ and it comes scary sharp.

  • The fact that it's used in surgical instruments (which may or may not be true) would be a detrament to the steel. Because surgical instruments are meant to be very sharp, but they're not durable at all because they're used once and thrown away.

  • Hey Nut'n, if you like this knife you should check out the Ken Onion Ripple by CRKT. You will love it!

  • I just like the color and the traction of Kershaw.

  • any plan to update the video? I think after the review of OD-2 nut can revise this video (annotation is just fine..I guess), it's an old knife but if he plan to keep this vid around I think he need to revise the flipper mechanism and such..

  • @Kylef7725 I already got the Flash I.

  • @bulldogsfan5953 What is your use?

  • is it assisted in anyway as I would love to buy one.

  • Hey nutn, would you suggest this knife, the SOG Flash I , or the SOG Twitch ii?
